Maple SEA

So, finally. MapleSEA appeared.

Well...seems like everyone is going gaga over it, and Digital Life actually did a review on that pathetic excuse for a MMORPG.

Well, for the uninformed, Maple Story, or Maple, is a MMORPG that's targetted at younger audience, and the girl sector (experts estimate billions of untapped gold in the female gamers market). Instead of lean mean dudes and some crazy monsters, you get some cute anime-type characters to play with, killing mushrooms and that like.

This type of game has been around since...2000 or something. Perhaps even further back, dating back to the likes of Diablo. Games like this just ask you to shoot some monsters, collect the items and the gold, rinse, repeat.

So, what happened to the multiplayer aspect?

Well, sure there is! Kill stealing, morons, spawn camping, scammers...who said there isn't anything? Again, since nothing is done much, and due to the fact there the budget is low, and hence a need to conserve server space, which is why everyone is on the same map. So, you have a bunch of people, their levels a little higher then you, and killing everything you try to kill. However, you can't leave that place, because that's the best place to get exp, since the monsters are "suited" for your level. So, you are forced to stand in that area and try to kill a monster or two.

And guess what? When you finally do kill one, that guy who was spawn camping starts to swear at you for "stealing" his kill. I don't think there is player killing in this game, but in others, the verbal abuse will be completed with the player killing you.

So, Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing game? My ass. There's hardly any interaction between players other then "**** you lah! Why steal my frag?!? knn".

And speaking of words like "knn", it has made some people, including me, being very careful when saying that I'm playing from Singapore. Since Gunbound appeared, the Singapore community has quite a bit of interaction with the rest of the world. Of course, more on the notorious side. I mean, in Gunbound, you have people going "<--- mine". And, when you miss, they go "knn la, nub", or "cb....like dat also mis..zz". Such stupid, and rather incomprehensible phrases, is why people are afraid to show their identity online. For example, there's more then one time when I saw people, whom I know are from Singapore, saing "It's enough to say that I'm chinese", when asked where they are from.

And, the Digital Life didn't help one bit, by saying "how you can annoy other users", with their stupid suggestions, such as "dressing up as a mushroom and asking them to pay 100 gold (or whatever they call. Also, why the hell would they ask for only 100 gold? >_>), or just being remotely annoying by spamming the message screen.

I guess I know why some people out there hate SG gamers sometimes. Even the papers have given a "guide" to being a total jackass.

Thankfully, I play guild wars, which has lesser morons, since everyone is playing Maple, which is free. And oh, Guild Wars, while it's expensive, is really worth every bit of the $99 I paid. Lesser morons, since the game really takes out all the things which morons does such as Spawn camping and PKing, and more interaction between players. It's a really refreshing, after seeing games springing up like those bubbletea shops last time, each with a better graphics, more skills and professions, but do not address the general flaws of MMORPGs, such as over-powered jobs, morons, and a lack of interaction between members of the game.

Xiaxue got her blog hacked into! XD! And here are all her fans, begging for the posts to be returned. First of all, unless Blog spot keeps archives, nothing can be done. Secondly, there's some web archives which might work, I have not tried it, nor would I bother myself. Thirdly, she's going to make a police report. XD! I wonder if the police is even going to care. Oh well, she's a "celebrity", and they do need extra "protection", yeah? Maybe she needs one too. So, all she's left with is...pretty much nothing, but plenty of swearing.

This could be the first and the last time which I'm praising hackers, but it sure was funny, with people going "OMFG. RETURN HER BLOG! I will WITHER UP AND DIE WITHOUT IT! NOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo"

XD!

I still thinks she deserves it. Go get a life...
